"THE HAI TIAN HOTEL MANAGEMENT MODEL-SYSTEM DESIGN & HANDS-ON PRACTICE"

Using a systematic method to transform the traditional hotel management model

This book is a comprehensive introduction of the Hai Tian Management system design and operational criteria. It is the Hai Tian's basic management document. It's composed of three sections: Section One---System Design: has nine elements based on hotel functions: decision making management system, marketing management system, human resources management system, quality management system, financial management system, information management system, project management system, security management system and administrative management system. Each system works as a center based on its own requirements when operating, with other systems supporting so that the management systems form an integrated organic operating system. Each system has sub-systems to ensure full integration. Section Two: The Hai Tian Cultural Philosophy: This section elucidates, in detail, the Hai Tian Cultural Philosophy: its formation, characteristics, operational concepts and management criteria. The Hai Tian Cultural Philosophy is the soul of the Hai Tian management model. It comes from the recognition of practical rules. It also masters the trend of values and mindsets current in the service industry. Section Three: Hands-on Practice: In this section job responsibilities, work procedures, standards and criteria are all linked to the management system. There are 12 chapters covering 12 departments. Basically an extension of Section One, this section is more practicum than theory relative to operations. This book can be served as guidance for the hotels being built or desiring to meet international standards. " A SYSTEM BASED ON ISO9000 STANDARDS-HOTEL QUALITY MANAGEMENT "

The International Standardization Organization (ISO) completed a series of standards from ISO9000 to ISO9004 in the 1980s aimed at establishing worldwide industrial standards. Many enterprises (groups) in China immediately enhanced their management by adopting the ISO9000 international quality management system. As a global service industry emerged rapidly from the ruins created by World War II the need to establish international standards became obvious especially standards for the service and hospitality industry. These standards immediately came to mark objective requirements and a revolution in the service industry. The year 2000 saw the official release of the 2000 version of ISO9000, a more practical system design for a hotel industry striving to meet international requirements in quality management.

The Hai Tian Hotel Management Company, encouraged and supported by tourism departments at all levels as well as quality certification companies and experts in quality certification and tourism, compiled the book " A SYSTEM BASED ON ISO9000 STANDARDS-HOTEL QUALITY MANAGEMENT " designed to provide an operational paradigm and a shortcut for our Chinese colleagues in the hotel industry as they began to build their own management system in accordance with the new international quality standards.

" A SYSTEM BASED ON ISO9000 STANDARDS-HOTEL QUALITY MANAGEMENT " is the Hai Tian's quality management system designed in accordance with these new international quality standards. We did much research on how to use the international management standards theoretically and practically in hotels still working to pre WWII standards. We believe this book will provide a valuable reference for hotels working with the 2000 version of ISO9000.

The book's 8 chapters cover the introduction to the beginning and formulation of the ISO9000 quality standards and the transition to and differences between ISO9000 1994 and 2000. It discusses the necessity of implementing the ISO9000 international management standard and its significance to the hotel management system. It clarifies the complementary and supplementary relationship between the ISO9000 quality management system and other hotel management systems. In practical terms it introduces 4 stages necessary to achieve the comprehensive implementation of ISO9001 international quality standards in the hotel industry. It also introduces the ISO9001 management system document, based on the quality handbook, program files and operating instructions. We standardized all the information including linkage between hotel services and operation management in the form of files to provide standardization hotels might use to carry out operational management and service training. Finally, we provide models and diagrams of a hotel quality handbook, program files and quality records for our colleagues reference.
